Founded in 2020 in Cape Town, Martin Projects is an innovative project-driven platform dedicated to the development and promotion of artists from Africa. Our program is focused on international art fairs, bespoke regional residencies, pop-up exhibitions and collaboration with galleries and institutions.

Igsaan Martin is a recognized specialist with nearly two decades of industry experience in Africa.  As the former Director of Gallery Momo and Associate Director of Brundyn+ in Cape Town, he worked closely with many acclaimed artists such as Mary Sibande, Ayana V Jackson and Mohau Modisakeng; and with the estates of several 20th Century masters including George Pemba, George Hallett and Durant Sihlali.  Under his direction, artists such as Salah Elmur, Maurice Mbikayi and Stephane Conradie have had their work procured by major museums and private collections.

Igsaan has curated and traded at international art fairs including Volta (Basel, New York), START (London), MiArt (Milan), 1:54 (London), Armory (New York), EXPO (Chicago), Arco (Lisbon), UNTITLED (Miami), FUTURE FAIR (New York), Cape Town Art Fair, Joburg Art Fair and RMD Latitudes (Johannesburg). From 2018 to 2020, he served on the Board at Greatmore Studios, a non-for-profit trust in Cape Town committed to uplifting young artists through artist-led residences and workshops.  He has also facilitated mentoring workshops in Cape Town for the City’s emerging artists program.
