Martin Art Projects is pleased to present a new body of works in the medium of painting, the first for Modisakeng. The paintings reflect on the theme of sacred places and places of ritual. In these works the figures stand in juxtaposition to the natural landscape of a forest or mountain observing a ritual of cleansing (such as a river). The magenta sky places the scenes at twilight or a surreal night, lit in hues of green, blue, and red.
