The viewing room is currently showing new works by Rahimah Rajiwate and Simphiwe Kaka.
Rajiwate is a contemporary artist based in Cape Town, South Africa. She has explored different media to express her love for storytelling and art. In 2019, she graduated from the University of Cape Town with a degree in film production after which she decided to enter the art industry as a painter. Her vibrant acrylic on canvas works aim to tell empowering stories through the lens of her own identity and culture.
Kaka is a South African artist specializing in portraiture. Inspired by his immediate environment, Kaka often portrays rare, personal and mysterious African subjects juxtaposed against fantastical landscapes where culture, the future, ritual and the contemporary world meet and coexist. He says the reason for this is to inspire originality, non conformity and the desire for the youth to fully express themselves and change the world regardless of their demographics, race or space in which they find themselves.
